Helping a parent or older family member?
You can help make the process easier. Consider helping them:
- Review the eligibility requirements
- Gather income documentation
- Complete the application
- Keep track of program and contractor communications
- Coordinate appointments during the project
The EnergyWise Older Adults Program may be a good fit if you:
- Are age 60 or older
- Own a single-family home, townhome or twinhome
- Do not plan to move within the next six months or do not have your name on a housing waiting list
- Meet the household income requirements
- Have an active Minnesota Energy Resources account in your name with natural gas as your primary heat source
- Have an active Rochester Public Utilities electric account in your name

EnergyWise Older Adults is for homeowners, but you may qualify for the 4U2 Program if you are renting.

How Do I Apply for the 4U2 Program?
- Complete and submit your application.
Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis while funding is available.
Download an EnergyWise Older Adults Program application. - Receive a free home energy audit.
If you qualify, a free home energy audit is required. - Review eligible improvements.
The audit will help determine which improvements may be available through the program. - Schedule the work.
You will work directly with an assigned contractor to schedule your improvements. A typical project takes four to six months.
