Rochester Public Utilities Issues Boil Water Advisory for Affected Neighborhood
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Rochester Public Utilities (RPU) has issued a Boil Water Advisory for customers in the affected neighborhood due to a water main break.
The advisory applies to customers located in:
Northwest Rochester near the 65th Street Northwest and U.S. Highway 52 corridor. The affected area generally includes neighborhoods and properties along and near 65th Street Northwest, Overland Drive Northwest, Bandel Road Northwest and Boulder Ridge Drive Northwest, including portions of the Boulder Ridge and Overland Pointe areas.

What to do
Until the advisory is lifted, customers in the affected neighborhood should boil all tap water for at least one minute before using it for:
- Drinking
- Cooking or food preparation
- Brushing teeth
- Making ice
- Preparing infant formula
The boiling process kills bacteria and other organisms in water. Tap water for bathing, showering and laundry may continue to be used.
Estimated Resolution Timeline
RPU crews are actively working to resolve the issue and restore normal service conditions as quickly and safely as possible. Water quality testing will be conducted before the advisory is lifted.
Crews began excavation and repair work at approximately 8:30 a.m. today. Assuming repairs and follow-up water quality testing are completed without complications, RPU expects the boil water advisory to be lifted within approximately 36 hours.
Affected customers will be notified once the advisory has ended and water is confirmed safe for normal use.
