Q: How can I qualify to become
a PARTNER?
A: Any RPU residential customer
living in a single-family residence with a central
air conditioner (A/C) and/or electric water
heater (minimum 40 gallons), in working condition,
may become a PARTNER. If you rent, please check
with the owner to obtain approval before applying
for the program.
Q: Will my central A/C and/or
electric water heater be cycled each day?
A: No, only as necessary. Central
A/Cs are cycled on peak demand days, May 1-September
30. Electric water heaters can be cycled year-round
on peak demand days.
Q: Will this cycling damage
my central A/C compressor?
A: Absolutely not. The cycling
switch works the same way a thermostat does
and will not cause any extra wear and tear on
your compressor.
Q: Will my lights and appliances
be affected in any way during a cycling-off
period?
A: No. The cycling switch operates
only your central A/C compressor and/or your
electric water heater elements. No other electric
appliance in your home will be affected.
Q: How will I receive my credits?
A: A credit will appear on
your monthly electric bill following installation
of the equipment and processing of your application.
This may take up to six weeks.
Q: Is PARTNERS available for
commercial and industrial customers?
A: RPU offers a similar PARTNERS
program for commercial and industrial customers.
For more information, visit Business
PARTNERS.
Q: What will it cost me to
have PARTNERS installed?
A: PARTNERS will be installed
at no cost to you.
Q: Will I know when my central
A/C or electric water heater is being cycled?
A: A red light on the switch
will indicate when they are cycled off. If you're
inside, you probably won't know that the A/C
has been cycled off because only the compressor
will be affected. Your A/C's fan will continue
to circulate air throughout your home.
Q: How long will my central
A/C and/or electric water heater be turned off
during a peak demand day?
A: During a peak demand day,
your central A/C compressor may be turned off
for 7.5 to 11.5 minutes out of every 30 minutes
(24 minutes on rare occasions). Your electric
water heater elements may be turned off for
54 minutes out of every 60 minutes.
Q: What if I decide to withdraw
from the program?
A: Simply call us at 507-280-1500.
We will make sure your participation is canceled
at no cost to you. There is no obligation to
continue in the program for any length of time.
Please note that removal of the cycling switch
leaves small screw holes in the siding of your
home. They will be filled with clear silicone
upon removal of the switch.
Q: What if I need more information?
A: If you have any questions
or need more information, contact us at 507-280-1500
or email contact us online. |
