Every customer site is different, and each customer has different needs. We generally use standard electric meters that have multiple capabilities. Meters are available that can provide valuable information such as a record of energy use or providing an interface with building energy management systems.
We will provide assistance and design/installation service based on your needs. These needs can range from the installation of pulse initiators to provide instantaneous building demand to an energy management system to the temporary installation of energy monitors or recorders to provide a record of operational information. Automated meter reading (AMR) allows our employees to obtain meter readings via hand-held equipment and radio transmission-eliminating the need to enter your home or business. AMR offers several advantages to both you and RPU. For you, window cards, access keys, and estimated reads are eliminated. For us, liabilities and hazards to the meter reader are reduced, as are the labor costs associated with meter reading and performing account adjustments due to estimated bills. We are updating meters throughout the city with AMR technology on a replacement schedule.
