Energy Audits

What is an energy audit?

An energy audit is the first step to assess how much energy your home or business consumes, and to evaluate what measures you can take to become more energy-efficient.

During an energy audit, one of our certified energy auditors will inspect your home or business, looking not only for areas where energy may be “escaping” from your building, but where your current energy usage can be reduced.

An audit will show you problems that may, when corrected, save you significant amounts of money over time. Depending on your business, an energy audit will provide:

  • An analysis of your current energy usage.
  • First steps for action.
  • Low-cost or no-cost energy-saving actions, such as sealing gaps, adjusting thermostats, and cleaning filters.
  • Less than five-year payback energy-saving actions such as weatherstripping and caulking.
  • Higher-cost or longer-payback energy-saving actions, such as attic or wall insulation, new windows, and equipment or appliance replacement.

Rebate

Commercial customers are eligible to receive an incentive of 25 percent off the cost of an audit; pre-approval needed if more than $250.
