CAUTION: Thin Ice and Open Water Surround
Lake Zumbro Dam
ROCHESTER, Minn—Due to thin ice and open
water in the vicinity of RPU’s Lake Zumbro
Hydro, the utility urges lake residents and
recreationalists to be extremely cautious in
the area.
The deicing system on the upstream face of the
spillway has resulted in thin ice and open water.
The utility has placed warning signs upstream
of the spillway as a reminder of the extreme
hazard associated with the thin ice and open
water conditions. All people using the lake
should not approach and stay well away from
the warning signs.
