Nominations needed for 2007 Environmental
Achievement Awards
ROCHESTER, MN— Rochester Public Utilities
(RPU) and the Olmsted County Environmental Commission
are seeking nominations for the 2007 Environmental
Achievement Awards. The goal of the awards is to
promote and encourage innovative approaches to environmental
and conservation challenges and to develop an environmental
and conservation ethic within our community and
county. “By recognizing the individuals, organizations,
and businesses that are making a positive impact
in the community, we hope to increase the awareness
and the involvement of the citizens of Rochester
and Olmsted County,” said Karol Gluth of RPU.
Nominations are sought until October 26, 2007 of
individuals, families, youth, organizations, or
businesses that have made a significant contribution
in 2007 towards environmental quality in any of
the following categories: renewable efforts, conservation,
energy, water, agriculture, education, and other.
Last year’s recipients were:
1. Andy Hart
2. High Point Condominiums Association
3. Sam Bailey
4. Olmsted County Elections and Purchasing Department
5. Rochester Area Builders and Zumbro Land Conservancy
6. Intercultural Mutual Assistance Association (IMAA)
7. Olmsted County Youth Commission
This year’s recipients will be honored at
an awards banquet on Thursday, January 24, 2008
at the Rochester Golf & Country Club.
