ROCHESTER PUBLIC UTILITIES GROUNDBREAKING
FOR THE $34 MILLION EMISSION REDUCTION PROJECT
AT SILVER LAKE PLANT
ROCHESTER, MN--- Rochester Public Utilities
took a large step toward a reduction in emissions
at the Silver Lake Plant (SLP) Tuesday, with
the groundbreaking signifying the start of
the $34 million emission reduction project.
“Through listening to what our customers
want from us, it was clear that they wanted
us to focus our attention to the future and
to reducing emissions while still providing
reliable power at a reasonable cost,”
said Larry Koshire, RPU General Manager.
The emission reduction project will significantly
reduce nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, mercury,
and particulate matter at SLP. The project
will utilize a scrubber baghouse system for
its emission reduction. State of the art controls
will also be installed to manage the new system.

project, visit www.rpu.org.
