RPU recognizes the importance of giving
more to the Rochester community than power
and water, so involvement in community service
is a high priority. RPU employees and their
families invest time and resources in the
following organizations (a partial list):
Adopt-A-Family, American Heart Association,
Chamber of Commerce, Electrical Safety School
Programs, Honors Choirs, Meal on Wheels, National
Night Out Against Crime, PossAbilities, Rochester
Area Builders, Rochesterfest, Scouts, various
service clubs, Southeast Minnesota Association
of REALTORS, and United Way of Olmsted County.
Learn about how RPU helped out in the community
through the implementation of geothermal heating
and cooling technology in two local Habitat
for Humanity homes.
RPU Community Involvement Facts and
Figures

during blood drives held at RPU during 2005.
All of the blood collected is used locally
by Mayo Clinic within Olmsted County.
Over 364 meals were distributed across Rochester
by our employees over their lunch hour for
Meals on Wheels (pictured below).
Our electrical safety demonstrations reached
out to 1049 school-age children in Rochester
public and private schools.
During our annual Arbor Day celebration,
we partnered with local nurseries and handed
out over 600 tree seedlings for planting around
Rochester.
$18,678 was raised by RPU employees through
pledges and special events for the United
Way’s 2005 campaign. This money will
help support 566 programs in our community.
Each year we transfer money to the city of
Rochester in the form of “in lieu of
taxes.” For 2005, the city of Rochester
will receive more than $7.8 million from RPU.
2007 RPU Meals on Wheels Volunteers
Every Thursday, two of 40 RPU volunteers spend
their lunch hour delivery meals for Family
Service Rochester's Meals on Wheels program.
"Our employees enjoy being able
to provide a valuable volunteer service over
their lunch hours--such a small time commitment--and
we are excited to be able to provide this
opportunity as a local utility company."
--Stephanie Yrjo, commercial account representative
and Meals on Wheels volunteer coordinator
